-==== 2015-04-26: Debian GNU/Linux 8.0 (Jessie) released ==== +==== 2023-06-11: Debian 12 Bookworm  ====
-The heading says it all: Debian GNU/Linux 8.0 a.k.a. Jessie has been released! Although the release was scheduled for april 25th and here in Europe the 26th already was 4 hours oldCongratulations Debian Team for making this another great release!+No, this site is everything but dead ;-)
 +
 +Yesterday, June 10 2023, Debian 12 "Bookworm" has been released. Thank you so much Debian team!
 +
 +The most important changes are that from now on, the non-free firmware has been moved into its own repository (the misc:sources.list will be updated to reflect that later) and is now part of the official installer release. Finally Debian installations on bare-metal become feasible again with the official images :-)

-I run Jessie for while now on my desktop(s), now on to upgrading all servers :)+Also, if you are running dual-boot system, you will have to tell Grub to actually probe for other OS on your systemby default that is now disabled. Just enable the row GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER=false in the /etc/default/grub file and run an update-grub.

-==== 2014-06-28: Moved from MediaWiki to DokuWiki ==== +Furthermore, obviously lots of software got updated to newer versions. Be aware that if you are running NextCloud on Debian: PHP 8.2 is currently not supported by NextCloud, it will be in future versions 26+.
-MediaWiki is most certainly a great piece of software. Howeverbecause of its features and functions, for my use it is a little bit too heavy. My site aims primarily at documentation, this is why I moved my content to DokuWiki.+

-This switch also made me overhaul some of the contentdouble-check if all links are still working and hopefully present the content more clearly.+==== 2019-11-09: Major overhaul ====
 +I finally found the tome to do an overhaul of the documents. Remove obsoleted information, check all links, update information here and thereAs usual I hope the information on this site will be useful to you!

-==== 2013-07-30Das Keyboard ==== +==== 2019-07-06Debian GNU/Linux 10 (Buster) released! ====
- +I still remember the Woody and Sarge release cycles and I am so happy that Debian nowadays has somewhat stable release cycle.
-Usually I am not about blogging or writing down experiences because I want to provide objective documentation. But in this case I have to write few words on //Das Keyboard// with MX Blue switches.+

-I am no professional at typing at all, but working in a terminal a lot I do appreciate good keyboardAfter lot of research I chose the Das Keyboard Professional S with MX Blue switches. To put it short: this really //is// a great keyboard! Even when you are no professionalit makes you type faster and gives a good tactile feeling. Personally, I also like the sound :) and compared to the good old IBM model M it is even less noisy. The integrated USB hub is nice and handy. What I also like is that this is a no-nonsense keyboard without a zillion added functions.+Today it is here: Debian 10 a.k.a. Buster! Congratulations Debian team for another great releaseyour work is more than appreciated.

-This is also the thing I //don't// like about Das Keyboard Professional S: it has a function key. Whereas the fact alone is no problem (I can simply choose not to use it)in my opinion the placement is a little off. The space key is moved a little to the right which makes me (sometimes) hit the wrong key when using the space key with my left thumb. Alsodue to the FN key the Windows keys were shrunk a littleThis makes it impossible to replace the key caps with penguin keys :S+Next to lots of updated software, the biggest change undoubtedly is that Debian is finally able to do secure boot. Also, when using the Gnome Desktop, the default display manager will be Wayland instead of Xorg.

-This last point is no big issue of course, although it leaves a little strange taste to itAll in all I am very happy with my Das Keyboard, I am sure it will serve me long!+You can find the full release announcement on the Debian website.
